Pretreatment — the solution sprayed and heat-pressed onto the garment before printing, which prepares the fibers to accept ink properly — needs more careful calibration on a lightweight tee than on thick fleece. Over-saturate a thin jersey and it can feel stiff or slightly crunchy where it should feel soft, or in worse cases show a faint visible halo where the spray pattern didn’t land evenly. A hoodie’s thicker fabric absorbs some of that margin for error; a tee doesn’t offer the same forgiveness.

One more consideration specific to tees: jersey knit stretches more in normal wear and washing than a hoodie’s more stable fleece does, and that repeated flex puts slightly more stress on a printed area over time. It’s a small effect with a correctly cured print, but it’s part of why we recommend washing DTG tees inside-out on a cold cycle and skipping high heat in the dryer — the same advice applies to any printed garment, but it matters a touch more here given how much more a tee stretches through daily wear than a hoodie does.
